| I've become a little obsessed with the bart cop murder case.
But I have no idea why. It's only expected that the cop is going to get off with nothing, justifiably or unjustifiably, whatever. But some crazy naive hope propels me to keep checking the news to see if any more information has been released, or more video, or something that might make me feel better about a kid getting shot in the back, laying on the ground.
The scariest thing from the article:
"Two officers appear to be struggling with Grant prior to the shot being fired," Borelli said. "This would indicate that, at best, Grant was being uncooperative, or at worst aggressively resisting arrest. I have to emphasize that no one except those two officers knows what happened in that struggle and how the officers perceived it." Translation: Even if the guy did shoot for no reason, even if he did just decide he was going to kill this kid, you'll never know about it, and it will go down in the books as a mistake 'anyone could have made'. Or even worse, whatever the kid was really, he will be recorded as being the most dangerous criminal in all history, especially while on his stomach with a police officer kneeing him in the neck.
Nothing new, but to know that now, even in this era of cell phone videos and immediate public access to those videos on the internet, there is still no way in hell that a cop is not going to be above the law. And still, most surprising to me--no riot from the train passengers after the shooting.
Meh.
Edit: bart cop resigned: http://cbs13.com/local/bart.shooting.officer.2.902521.html.
Edit 2: Man, I resolve to never get off @ Fruitvale BART. I had no idea that Oakland Tribune videographer [who was accused of hitting a cop car w/ her elbow] took her video outside that bart station.
Edit 3: Whoa bart police aren't really regulated like normal police: http://www.sfbg.com/entry.php?entry_id=7813&catid=4&volume_id=398&issue_id=413&volume_num=43&issue_num=15. I always assumed this before, but I also always assumed they were unarmed, just handing out parking tickets. aren't there ... gun laws, or police forces, or something? What kind of authority do they have then? Well now I'm just going to have to look this up.
Good lord, who uses this kind of stuff?!?!? Ipod controlling ski gloves, $199 *shakes head*. SkyMall Customers...
(much better when orally delivered, rather than textually) Q: Did you hear the one about the guy who tried to iron a coke can? A: It was soda pressing. |

| Now, I don't want this to turn political, but...
z0mg this shirt is HILARIOUS:

Today I learned that I have no volume control when I am happy. Or perhaps I am just a loud, happy person.
